Win 1st Annual Midwest Youth Open
Jenna Wenning a
sophomore at Coldwater High School and Mark Allen a freshman at Pikeville
College win the inaugural 2010 Midwest Youth Open held at Pla-Mor Lanes in
Coldwater on Sunday. Wenning qualified 6th after a slow start. In the first
round of match play she beat third seeded Erika Hartings an 8th grader from
Coldwater 2-0 in a best of 3 match play. She then topped WOHSBC Bowler of
the Year sophomore Erica Keysor of St. Marys 222-171 in the semi-finals. In
the finals she rolled a game of 190 to Cassey Voisard's (Versailles) 117 to
claim the first place finish and the $250 scholarship. Mark Allen originally
from Mason High School and now attending Pikeville College qualified in the
third spot. He faced Chandler Stevens of Archibold in the first round where
he rolled games of 227-210 to win 2-0. In the semi-finals he topped a
talented 8th grader from Wapakoneta Zach Miller 196-190. In the finals he
rolled a game of 212 to beat Coldwater senior Dennis Hogan's 147 to claim
the first place finish and the $300 scholarship. Pla-Mor Lanes would like to
thank former Coldwater standout Jared Moeder for putting this tournament
together.
